Items and Upgrade Components in World of Warcraft
The ability to upgrade items is a great way to increase the value of your weapon and armor. Upgrades to common and magical equipment are not worthwhile, since rare or unique items will quickly outclass them.
An item can be upgraded up to six times. Each upgrade will increase the item gauge.
Glyphs

Affixes to items can be used to give armor and weapons additional parameters. These could be a combination of one or more suffixes and/or prefixes, such as -Fiery that increases atk power by adding fire elemental damage. Item affixes can be applied to most items up to level 80 and are not applicable to crafted ascended armour and trinkets crafted by hand.
